Alerts

Dear Westwood Shores residents,

We are currently experiencing temporary water discoloration and a milky or cloudy appearance in the water supply. This condition is the result of excess air in the water lines, which occurred due to a recent equipment malfunction at the water treatment plant.

What Happened:

During routine operations, a piece of equipment at the plant malfunctioned, allowing air to enter the water distribution system. This caused the water to appear white or cloudy when coming out of taps. The cloudiness is due solely to tiny air bubbles suspended in the water. This is a visual issue only — there is no health risk, and the water remains safe to drink and use.

Current Status:

The malfunctioning equipment has been identified and isolated. As a precautionary measure, our crews are actively flushing the water system throughout the service area to remove any remaining air pockets and to restore normal water clarity.

What You May Experience:

  • Cloudy or milky water: This is caused by air and should clear up after a few moments if left to sit in a glass.

What You Can Do:

  • Run cold water from a faucet (preferably in a bathtub or sink without an aerator) for several minutes to help flush your household lines.

  • If the problem persists or you notice any unusual changes, please contact our office immediately at 281-353-9809 or customercare@h2oinnovation.com so we can investigate further.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding as we work to restore full clarity to your water supply.

District Utility Update

October 15, 2024

October 15, 2024

Dear Westwood Shores MUD Residents,

Water quality from the water wells at Water Plant 1 continues to be very poor, producing abnormally high concentration of Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S).  At this time, we don’t know when these elevated levels of H2S will subside.  Last week the operator placed a rush order for larger treatment equipment that can treat these very high concentrations of H2S more effectively. Unfortunately, Hurricane Milton has delayed delivery.  A portion of the upgraded equipment arrived this afternoon and is currently being installed. We won’t know to what extent this intermediate step will help until it has had an opportunity to run for several hours/days.

The next planned Westwood Shores MUD update is scheduled for tomorrow October 16th.

Water Plant No. 2 (“WP2”) relies on Trinity Rural Water Supply Corporation (“TRW”) for supply. TRW issued another alert today stating their water plant will be undergoing repairs through Thursday, October 17th and that the plant will be offline while the repairs are actively being worked on.  Westwood Shores Water Plant 2 will continue to remain offline and unavailable as an option for Westwood until TRW has completed their repairs and is able to supply Westwood with water. A decision to switch to WP2 will be considered at that time.

Please continue to report your water quality issues to Precision Utility at 281-456-9825 or service@precisionutility.biz

Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding during this difficult time.
