Dear Westwood Shores MUD Residents,
Due to an equipment malfunction at water plant 1 the district is having to switch over to water plant 2, which is supplied water from TRWA. Due to the change of direction of flow you will experiance water discoloration. We request that if you notice any discoloration to please notify H2O Innovation at 281-353-9809 so they can assist in flushing the lines to remove the discoloration. We would recommend that all washing of clothes, especially whites, be postponed due to the discoloration potentially staining clothes. Water quality in the community should improve over the next several days as the operator continues flushing the distribution system. Flushing will continue until all the water in the distribution has improved. Because the severity of the issue is not consistent throughout the District, the operator will prioritize areas that have been impacted the most and work outward from there. Flushing activity places an additional burden on the Water Plants ability to serve customers. Voluntary water conservation efforts would be helpful in reducing the demand on the system as we work through this issue.
With the switch to TRWA the water will be treated with chloramines, chloramines can cause problems to persons depenedent on dialysis machines, the pretreatment scheme used for the dialysis units must include some means for removing the chloramines.
In addition, chloraminated water maybe toxic to fish. If you have a fish tank, please make sure that the chemicals or filters that you are using are designed for use in water that has been treated with chloramines.
We will have an update on the situation within the next 48 hours.
Please continue to report your water quality issues to H2O Innovation at 281-353-9809 or customercare@h2oinnovation.com . Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.
