District Utility Update - Equipment Malfunction

03/21/2025

March 21, 2025

Dear Westwood Shores MUD Residents,

As we communicated earlier this week, we are having operational issues at Water Plant #1.  Currently Well #2 has been pulled due to a severe loss of production capacity. We are working to get the issue fixed in a timely manner. Well #1 is also suffering a loss of production capacity and will be investigated after Well 2 investigation is complete.  Well #1 is currently being used to fill the storage tank at water plant #1 although at a very diminished flow rate. The District continues to be on water supply from TRWA and anticipate being on through the weekend.

We have completed preventative flushing and are no longer observing discolored water in the system.  However, we request that if you notice any discoloration to please notify H2O Innovation at 281-353-9809 so they can assist in flushing the lines to remove the discoloration. Washing of clothes can be resumed. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding. We would still recommend voluntary water conservation efforts to reduce the demand on the system as we work through this issue.

With the switch to TRWA the water will be treated with chloramines, chloramines can cause problems to persons dependent on dialysis machines, the pretreatment scheme used for the dialysis units must include some means for removing the chloramines.

In addition, chloraminated water may be toxic to fish. If you have a fish tank, please make sure that the chemicals or filters that you are using are designed for use in water that has been treated with chloramines.

We will have an update on the situation by March 28, 2025 .

Please continue to report your water quality issues to H2O Innovation at 281-353-9809 or customercare@h2oinnovation.com .  Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

District Utility Update - Equipment Malfunction

03/19/2025

March 19, 2025

Dear Westwood Shores MUD Residents,

Due to an equipment malfunction at water plant 1 the district is having to switch over to water plant 2, which is supplied water from TRWA. Due to the change of direction of flow you will  experiance water discoloration. We request that if you notice any discoloration to please notify H2O Innovation at 281-353-9809 so they can assist in flushing the lines to remove the discoloration. We would recommend that all washing of clothes, especially whites, be postponed due to the discoloration potentially staining clothes. Water quality in the community should improve over the next several days as the operator continues flushing the distribution system.  Flushing will continue until all the water in the distribution has improved.  Because the severity of the issue is not consistent throughout the District, the operator will prioritize areas that have been impacted the most and work outward from there. Flushing activity places an additional burden on the Water Plants ability to serve customers. Voluntary water conservation efforts would be helpful in reducing the demand on the system as we work through this issue.

With the switch to TRWA the water will be treated with chloramines, chloramines can cause problems to persons depenedent on dialysis machines, the pretreatment scheme used for the dialysis units must include some means for removing the chloramines.

In addition, chloraminated water maybe toxic to fish. If you have a fish tank, please make sure that the chemicals or filters that you are using are designed for use in water that has been treated with chloramines.

We will have an update on the situation within the next 48 hours.

Please continue to report your water quality issues to H2O Innovation at 281-353-9809 or customercare@h2oinnovation.com .  Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

District Utility Update

10/15/2024

October 15, 2024

Dear Westwood Shores MUD Residents,

Water quality from the water wells at Water Plant 1 continues to be very poor, producing abnormally high concentration of Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S).  At this time, we don’t know when these elevated levels of H2S will subside.  Last week the operator placed a rush order for larger treatment equipment that can treat these very high concentrations of H2S more effectively. Unfortunately, Hurricane Milton has delayed delivery.  A portion of the upgraded equipment arrived this afternoon and is currently being installed. We won’t know to what extent this intermediate step will help until it has had an opportunity to run for several hours/days.

The next planned Westwood Shores MUD update is scheduled for tomorrow October 16th.

Water Plant No. 2 (“WP2”) relies on Trinity Rural Water Supply Corporation (“TRW”) for supply. TRW issued another alert today stating their water plant will be undergoing repairs through Thursday, October 17th and that the plant will be offline while the repairs are actively being worked on.  Westwood Shores Water Plant 2 will continue to remain offline and unavailable as an option for Westwood until TRW has completed their repairs and is able to supply Westwood with water. A decision to switch to WP2 will be considered at that time.

Please continue to report your water quality issues to Precision Utility at 281-456-9825 or service@precisionutility.biz.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding during this difficult time.
